Lat pulldown equipment worth it?

My partner is torn between incorporating rows or lat pulldowns into his routine for more upper back engagement. The lat pulldown option would require either an attachment for his rack or investing in a standalone machine which has him wondering if it would be redundant to do both chin ups and lat pulldowns. Would it be better to switch it up or stick to just one of the exercises for balanced development?? I just wanna help him decide.

lat pulldowns are a good way to add extra volume and control, but I wouldn't say it's a must, considering the limited space. Rows on the other hand I wouldn't ignore, they're a good way to target tons of back muscles. I think it would be best to rotate between chin ups and rows and use pulldowns whenever possible, just to add a bit of variety

Makes sense, I'd just say eliminate the pulldown exercise option since it would require him to buy an equipment just for that. Thanks dude

He's already doing chin ups consistently, adding lat pulldowns can feel a bit redundant unless he's targeting different grip variations or rep ranges. Rows, on the other hand, hit more mi back and posterior delts, and give better overall balance to a pulling routine, rows would most likely complimment chin ups better

My brother faced a similar challenge when he was putting together his basement gym, limited space and a tight budget. He decided to focus on rows and chin-ups with just a basic bar and some resistance bands. As time went on, he found that his back developed nicely and looked more balanced, all without the need for a pulldown machine
